Dante’s story is what should have been at the core of this episode. The first thirty minutes of the episode are mostly filler. For all the setup, this episode felt strangely like it’s buying time. I didn't think I'd be saying this right now, but I'm.cautiously optimistic about the future of the show.Monday brought us the mid-season finale for season 10. He's not dead, but it's a different ballgame now. "Brother, take my hand." The way AL delivered that line. Additionally, Negan earnestly saying "please" completely caught me off-guard. "I get strength from the dead, but I live for the living, and I make no apologies for that." My favorite quote from this episode, hands down. Michonne's exchange with Negan gave me chills. (AND Daryl dropped what I think is the first F-bomb on the show. Yeah, they're brothers and they've been through hell together, but it just wouldn't be realistic to expect them to be two completely different leaders of two completely different communities without really butting heads a few times. I'm actually glad to see some legit conflict between Rick and Daryl.
The zombie guts on the baseball bat resembled the barbed wire on Lucille. The intro scene was a masterful example of storytelling without dialogue.
